The All-Star break is finally upon us, and the festivities have lived up to the hype so far. Eric Gordon emerged victorious in the three point contest, Kristaps Porzingis won the skills challenge, and Glenn Robinson III stole the slam dunk contest crown. But those players who are not participating in New Orleans get a full week off, which should help them rest up for the home stretch of the regular season. The games resume on Thursday, February 23, so here are some players to help you start off the rest of the fantasy basketball betting season right.
Jeff Teague
Jeff Teague might have switched teams, but his game hasn’t changed a bit. He still has that quick first step that allows him to blow by defenders, and his three-point jumper is still incredibly consistent. Add him to a team that already has talent like Paul George, Thaddeus Young, and Miles Turner, and you have a team that could make a serious run at the Cavs in the playoffs. Teague didn’t make the All-Star team, but his 15 points, eight assists, and four rebound per game put him right up there with some of the best guards in the league. In addition, he’s put up 25 or more fantasy sports betting points in seven of his last nine, and he’s likely to continue riding that hot streak after the break. At only $7000, Teague is a genuine steal at the point guard position.
Otto Porter
Otto Porter didn’t make much of an appearance at all for the Washington Wizards in his first two seasons, but he progressed in his third and is really starting to make a difference in his fourth. His jump shot, which for years had been the hole in his game, has improved significantly, which opens up the floor for his teammates. His 47% three point percentage is a career high and currently leads the league, an incredible feat for someone who shot 37% from downtown last season. He’s averaging 15 points and seven rebounds on the season as the Wizards’ starting small forward. Porter has scored 30 or more DFS points in four of his last five, and has shown consistency across the board this year. He’ll only cost you around $6600 on FanDuel and DraftKings, making him too good to pass up in Week 18.
Wesley Matthews
Wesley Matthews may have disappointed Mavericks fans with his poor performance in the three-point contest, but he’s wowed them all season with his superb outside shooting. He’s shooting 38% from downtown this year and makes almost three three-pointers per game. On the season, Matthews is putting up 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists per game. Having great shooters like Dirk Nowitzki, Deron Williams, and Harrison Barnes as teammates really opens up the floor for Matthews and the Mavs. He’s scored 25 or more fantasy points in six of his last seven, which is above-average production for a shooting guard valued at just $6000. Look for Matthews to carry this hot streak into the rest of the season and lead the Mavs to yet another playoff berth.
